Athena's Horizon
Philosophy has always been about trying to understand the world we live in and our place within it. Before knowledge became divided into the different disciplines we know today, philosophy was the starting point for exploring the world, from the nature of existence to the principles behind natural phenomena; even science emerged from this search for understanding. Yet philosophy is often treated as something to study rather than something to practise, even though its questions are deeply connected to the way we live, the choices we make and the reality we experience.
Athena’s Horizon is about bringing philosophy back into everyday life, beyond the boundaries of academic learning, and exploring what it can offer us when we engage with it directly. By questioning what we take for granted and looking at things from different perspectives, we can broaden our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. After all, the more we expand our minds, the more we expand the reality we are able to perceive.
The questions we explore can take many different directions, from the nature of human consciousness and the existence of the soul to ethical dilemmas and the persistence of patriarchy in contemporary society. What connects them is the possibility of thinking beyond familiar assumptions, exchanging perspectives with others and discovering new ways of understanding the reality we share, even when we experience it differently
✦Be Part of Athena’s Horizon✦
Athena’s Horizon is currently in development as a pilot project, and I'm gathering expressions of interest from people who would like to take part. If you're interested, you can leave your email address and select the philosophical topics you'd like to explore. You can also suggest other subjects that you'd like to bring to the discussion.
Once a small group has come together, I'll be able to organise the first gatherings and share further details.
The gatherings will be held online, in small groups of up to 8-10 participants, and participation is completely free.
