Logic-Based Consultation
A Philosophical Approach to Everyday Life
Life presents us with situations that can challenge our beliefs, values and understanding of ourselves. Sometimes the difficulty lies not only in what happens to us but also in how we interpret and respond to it.
Logic-Based Consultation offers an opportunity to examine these situations through philosophical reflection, identify patterns of reasoning that may be limiting our perspective and explore alternative ways of thinking and acting.
How Does It Work?
As a certified Logic-Based Consultant (LBC) trained directly by Dr Elliot D. Cohen, founder of Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation (LBT&C), I use his philosophical methodology to help individuals address practical, emotional and existential challenges.
The approach draws on the work of Albert Ellis and combines logical reasoning, philosophical perspectives and practical action to encourage meaningful personal change.
✦The process begins with a concrete situation or problem that you would like to explore.
✦Together, we examine the reasoning behind your response to that situation, paying attention to the beliefs, assumptions and conclusions that shape your experience.
✦This exploration can reveal logical fallacies, patterns of reasoning that may be contributing to the difficulty; sometimes several fallacies can operate together.
✦The next step is to identify a corresponding guiding virtue, a philosophical ideal that offers a constructive alternative to the problematic reasoning.
✦We then explore philosophical perspectives and thinkers that may help you cultivate that virtue. The approach is adapted to your own values and worldview rather than imposing a particular philosophy.
✦Finally, we work towards a practical plan for applying these philosophical insights to everyday life.
